Deputy governor of Borno state, Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha has called on all northerners in Nigeria not to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s general elections. Daily Post reports. The deputy governor was speaking at the premises of the Borno Government House, Maidugiri while distributing vehicles to supporters of his political party, the All Progressive Congress, (APC).
Mustapha said, because of the PDP’s bad leadership across the country, no northerner in his or her right senses should vote for PDP in the 2015 general elections.
He described the Jonathan administration as an empty vessel, which he justified by saying the administration has not shown any atom of quality leadership especially as regards the security situation in the north-east of Nigeria.
He also told his party supporters that plans are on the way by the Borno state government to mobilize youths to take back local government areas in the state taken over by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram and arm them with equipments if the federal government and the Nigerian military do not recover the local governments.
“Any northerner who votes for PDP in the next round of election is not supposed to be called a northerner because such a person is a disgrace to the north. We would do everything within our power as government to ensure we retake local government areas under the control of insurgents since the military and the Federal government has failed to do so”, Mustapha said.
It will be recalled that Mustapha’s boss and Borno state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has been affirmed as the All Progressive Congress, APC candidate for the 2015 Governorship elections in Borno State.
