A 22-year-old boy, Ahmed has been shot and hacked to death by suspected members of a cult group in Somolu, Lagos.
Ahmed who is popularly known as Bobo was killed by men alleged to be members of the Aiye Confraternity. Eye witness reports according to Punch, revealed that the deceased was trailed to the area by a three-man gang.
According to the report by Punch, there have been series of clashes between the Eiye gang members on Johnson Street and their rivals in Aiye confraternity from Kusa Street, a neighbouring community.
The attack and killing of Bobo was allegedly a revenge for an earlier attack in the area.
The report also revealed that few days before his death, Ahmed had led an attack on Kusa Street and attacked a rival cult member. He thought the man was dead, but the man’s friends rushed him to the hospital and he survived. His friends mobilised before coming back to revenge.
An eye witness told Punch that the killers stormed the market and met the victim alone at a lotto kiosk as he was trying to check the results.
“When he realised that he had been surrounded, he tried to escape, but they trapped him. They first shot him in the chest before they started hacking him with cutlass. They later left, fearing that his friends might show up,” the eye witness told Punch.
Bobo was taken to the hospital but management of the hospital asked for a police report before he will be treated. Then report could not be produced and he died 30 minutes later.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, while confirming the incident, revealed that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Gbagada General Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
