President Goodluck Jonathan's visit to the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ife, has been cut short after students of the institution staged a peaceful protest today.
According to reports reaching Student Pulse, the students barricaded the road, preventing his convoy from progressing.
The students are reportedly angered because all activities were stopped or the number one citizens visit.
Several tweets posted on social media suggest that the President had to be whisked away with a helicopter.
The placard carrying students allegedly also threw stones as the presidential helicopter left the institution.
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, who defeated an All Progressives Congress (APC) incumbent, was also booed with chants of "Ole" (thief).
The convoy of the Ooni of Ife was also initially blocked.
Some people have suggested that the unfortunate turn of events has a political undertone because Osun State is an APC stronghold.
